Professional Doctorate in Child and Adolescent Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy at Tavistock & Portman NHS Foundation Trust, Masters degree in Social Anthropology at S.O.A.S., University of London

Nicholas Frealand is a Child and Adolescent Psychotherapist who in 2022 completed doctoral research on role of ethnicity, gender, social class, sexual orientation and religion in psychotherapy training and practice. He is presenting this research to psychotherapy training organisations.

This year he left the NHS/CAMHS to co-create a group practice which provides emotional support to communities in south east London. This is a Worker-Cooperative enterprise which rejects exploitative and extractive business norms and practices economic justice, community wealth building and investment in the solidarity economy. All therapists collectively share ownership and directorship of the service which is seeking additional member-owners.

Nicholas is a member of The Black, African and Asian Therapy Network; No More Exclusions, a Black-led and community- based abolitionist movement; the UK-Palestine Mental Health Network; The Relational School; and Psychotherapists and Counsellors for Social Responsibility.
