Master’s Degree with Distinction in Music Therapy, MA; Degree in Sociology/ Psychology, BSc (Hons)

With a first degree in Sociology/Psychology, Alphonso commenced his career as a Welfare Officer, supporting Reading’s black community and helping young adults on remand. He later embarked on a professional journey in IT and software which spanned over two decades, working for hi-tech companies in Berkshire and London. In parallel, he fervently pursued his passion for music, engaging in teaching, playing in bands, and various solo projects.

In 2016, when confronted with a prostate cancer and brain AVM diagnosis, Alphonso embraced his musical aspirations, establishing a private teaching practice that evolved into specialised creative music services for children with Autism. His unwavering dedication led to establishing the creative music department at Venturers’ Academy in Bristol, benefiting numerous children.

Furthering his expertise, Alphonso attained a master’s degree from UWE in music therapy, focusing his dissertation on the profound role of music in aiding black men to cope with prostate cancer post-treatment. As a devoted music therapist at Venturers’ Academy and in private practice, he continues to inspire and transform lives through the power of music
